How did you come up with your 'Game Name'?

I was wondering how everyone came about having their gaming/internet name.

Any interesting stories?

I Jangle.

For XBL it's a reference to my car. On here it's a shot at myself and my broken motorcycle. It's a Kawasaki, or Kawi for short, and I walk places, hence Kawiwalkie.

Hmm...sounds like me. Are you me? I have a KLX650 with a broken timing chain, and now I walk everywhere. Or longboard.

I had a teacher in middle school with a weird speech habit of pronouncing long u sounds as o's. So "ruler" sounded like "roller", and Julian became Jolian. The name stuck with me for years.

My preferred name was taken as is the case most times, so I went with the old cathax meme.

There are a lot of cats in my city. It's kind of sad. I put out food for them but still many go hungry. I don't have money or time to catch them and pay for spay/neuter. I live in cat town.

I didn't ever have a cool phone like my friends, but then I got the Alias phone from Verizon a few years back. And here we are. :)

My name came from my original XBL gamertag I made after the N64 game Jet Force Gemini.

Some black people called me it: spazzyrabiit

Chainsaws are pretty awesome, but I guess I watched too many bad horror movies and figured an evil chainsaw is a whole new level of awesome.

CrabAppleGrab... just worked man. It just worked.

And the secret to my reddit name is a secret. Secretly.

Phonetic pronunciation of my first two initials: NV => Envy.

My game name comes from anything on my table at the time.

Despite repeated accusations of me trying to be cool by using a name that involves hacking (and even more that I was using hacks and my name was evidence), my last name is Hacker, and my 7th grade history teacher called me "the hack attack". It stuck, and I thought it made a cool handle.

My friends called me this in middle school. I use it as my alias p much everywhere.

I got mine from All-Star Baseball 2000 on the N64. One day my older brother was playing as the Oakland A's. They had these two players at the time, Matt Stairs and Ben Grieve. My brother kept getting the names mixed up and kept calling Ben Grieve - Matt Grieves. He hit a home run EVERY fucking at bat that game. He then started using "Matty Grieves" in every home run derby from then on. It was a funny inside joke cause no one knew why we got his name "wrong" all the time. So I took the name, changed the spelling and threw on the Mr. so you wouldn't have to worry about the first name.

my first name is riley, the first four letters of my last name is cola. I WAS IN GRADE 3 WHEN I MADE IT OKAY...

Mine was given to me by some friends at our local LAN center years ago.

I have had a few aliases but this one has stuck the longest and i don't see any reason to change it. I came up with this name when I found a game or forum or something that had my old one taken and tried to come up with a new one. I eventually decided to go with the name of the main character from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, Strelok, mainly because it is awesome, but forgot exactly what the characters name was, in fact I'm surprised I got so close. Oddly I have only experienced having this name taken by someone else twice, on steam and on xbox live.

I've been gaming since I was a kid.. I'm now 22 years old and still rock the KidDeath name. People have suggested "ManDeath" but that doesn't really sound all that great. I've had this name since I was 8 years old. The 10k bit came from when the-10k was around. It was a mature Xbox 360 community which has since shutdown due to kids starting drama etc. I use different variations since there are others who register the name in games before I get a chance too.

KidDeath, KidD34TH, KidDeath10k, AOD_KidDeath, AODKidDeath. Luckily when the Steam Community first came out, I was able to register "KidDeath" as my community id. id/KidDeath if anyone wants to add me.

In some small communities, I go by a different name unrelated to gaming - gw0rd. This name came to be when I was doing some C++ programming.

int gw0rd;
