I love this series. I want season 2!

level 1

I really liked episode 1 and wish the show was based around that premise. I'd rank best to worst as 1, 5, 3, 2, 6, 4 with 1 being far and away the best and 4 being a lot worse than 6. Had some funny moments, expected it to be funnier though. Went in with no expectations, only just saw the trailer and decided to watch.

Can someone help me find a link to watch it for free?

level 1

Tbh I thought it was pretty good, except for episodes 2 and 4, and maybe 3, still good enough that I watched the whole season in one go.

level 1

Episode 3 made me decide not to watch any more episodes. The plot is bad, the acting is awful, the editing is off...

level 2

It was good, but the nightmare song scene could have been cut. Maybe the party dance scene extended.

Comparing it to Black Mirror is like comparing Black Mirror to Amazing Stories, or comparing Amazing Stories to Twilight Zone. It is just a way of saying "anthology" to people who don't understand "anthology". I think it's just a selling point.

Plus, Weird City exists in a shared universe, which I haven't seen much before in anthology. And I found that if you watch it all at once (and then again and again) you start to notice that it is its own monster, folding in on itself, reflecting back on itself and generally building up a WTF-ness like I've never seen before.

It's hard making new, exciting sci-fi... and a comedy, to boot?! I think they've done it.

There are references like the Voight-Kampff test from Blade Runner, that may or may not mean they're testing for replicants... or it may just mean that in a future this much in the vein of Idiocracy, things have gotten lost and twisted. I mean, there are also references to everything from Citizen Kane to Mumford & Sons to Dallas, so we're not dealing with a normal show.

I really loved it! And I really encourage the haters to watch all the way through and see what they think then.

This is so cringingly unfunny. No amount of laugh track would cure the lacklaster transitions between barely humorous situations...

Episode 1 is closer to “Hang the DJ” than “San Junipero” I feel. How did you get “The National Anthem” from Episode 2?

level 3

I meant to compare my opinion of good and bad episodes of each series. As for the premise, yeah hang the DJ makes perfect sense.

level 4

Ah ok I get you now. I thought maybe I missed something in the Cera episode.

level 1

I thought the first episode was great. I love every minute of it. I couldn't wait for the second episode to be over.

level 2

The second was far superior.

level 3

I found the second to be the worst in the series, 2,4 and 6 were the weaker ones

level 4

The second felt like a movie. I could have gone for it being feature length

level 1

5.9 on IMDb, is it really that bad?

I wrote this in my review:

"Weird City reminds me a lot of a scene from the 1996 film adaptation of Matilda. Partway through the film a gluttonous child called Bruce is forced to eat multiple, gigantic chocolate cakes. At first he enjoys every bite of sickly, sweet chocolate. Time passes and what was once enjoyable eventually winds up as a laborious exercise, losing the charm it once had. Weird City is exactly like this."

It has some nice ideas but it feels like a one-trick pony, rehashing the same absurdist humour and jokes again and again. The first and last episodes are easily the best for me.

I think the first two episodes were just the best of the series more than it was too much of the same thing. If they had presented the episodes in an order with those two at the end I think they would still be considered the best episodes.

I enjoyed Episodes 1,2 and 5, Episode 3 wasn’t very good in my opinion, Episode 4 was too much of the common future house cliche and Episode 6 was ok.

level 2

Personally I would give it a 6.5, is not the worst, and the actors are ok, but is not that funny, not that interesting, not very engaging, and really nothing special or inventive. You can see they draw a lot of ideas from stories that already did the same, but better. But that's my opinion, of course, and if you read the comments below you'll see many would disagree. Still, is just 6 less than a half hour episodes, so if yo have an afternoon to waste, is not the worst way to do it.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner reference with the owl!

I thought this was funny and sweet, looking forward to the rest of the series.
